Jeera dropped 0.45% to Rs 20,900 as Northwest India’s favourable weather sped up harvesting, drying, and delivery while farmers aggressively sold stocks to generate cash flow ahead of the upcoming season. Increasing NCDEX warehouse stocks have diminished the immediacy for spot procurement, leading large industrial spice grinders to exercise caution and postpone bulk purchases in anticipation of lower prices. However, the downside remained constrained by the tightening availability of premium-quality bold seeds, as arrivals at major markets like Unjha and Rajasthan began to decline significantly.
European and North American buyers have resumed their purchases in a selective manner, focusing on residue-compliant and high-specification lots, which has bolstered demand for quality seeds. In contrast, geopolitical instability in the Middle East persists, causing disruptions in logistics and diminishing buying activity from traditional markets. Blight outbreaks in critical regions of Gujarat have led to a decline in both the quality and quantity of harvestable crops. Production estimates suggest that India’s cumin crop could decrease to 90-92 lakh bags, down from 1.10 crore bags in the previous year.
Specifically, production in Gujarat is projected to be between 42-45 lakh bags, while Rajasthan’s output is anticipated to range from 48-50 lakh bags. China’s production estimate has been adjusted to 70-80 thousand tonnes as a result of unfavourable weather conditions. In contrast, Syria, Turkey, and Afghanistan are projected to yield approximately 9-10 thousand, 10-11 thousand, and 10-12 thousand tonnes, respectively. India’s jeera exports experienced a significant decline of 34% year-on-year, totalling 10,713 tonnes in June 2026. Furthermore, exports for the April-June period saw a reduction of 25%, amounting to 44,144 tonnes. Despite the overall downturn, Singapore, Oman, and Argentina experienced robust growth in their shipments.
In Unjha, spot prices concluded at Rs 21,160, reflecting a decline of 0.1%.Technically, the market is experiencing long liquidation, as evidenced by a 6.95% decline in open interest to 4,017, coupled with a price drop of Rs 95, which suggests liquidation pressure. Jeera is currently finding support at Rs 20,820, and a breach of this level may result in a decline to Rs 20,740. Resistance is positioned at Rs 20,990, and a sustained movement above this threshold could propel prices toward Rs 21,080.
