NCDEX Live Updates

Jeera prices experienced a decline of 0.40%, concluding at Rs 21,045, influenced by robust selling activities from farmers and a lack of strong purchasing interest from domestic processors, which negatively impacted market sentiment. Farmers persisted in liquidating stocks to raise cash for Kharif sowing, as favourable weather conditions throughout north-west India facilitated harvesting, drying, and market arrivals. Increasing NCDEX warehouse stocks have diminished the urgency for spot purchases, leading traders and industrial spice processors to favour hand-to-mouth buying rather than accumulating inventories.

However, the downside remained constrained by the tightening availability of premium-quality bold seeds, as export-grade supplies are diminishing at a rate that outpaces the overall crop availability. Fundamentally, daily arrivals at major trading centres such as Unjha and Rajasthan have begun to decrease, while quality concerns stemming from blight disease in certain regions of Gujarat have diminished the availability of superior-grade produce. Production for the current season is estimated at 90–92 lakh bags, a decrease from 1.10 crore bags last year, indicative of a contraction in the sowing area. Gujarat’s output is projected to be between 42 and 45 lakh bags, whereas Rajasthan’s production is anticipated to range from 48 to 50 lakh bags.

Globally, production estimates have been adjusted downward in China as a result of unfavourable weather conditions. Meanwhile, enhanced crop prospects in Turkey and Syria are exerting pressure on Indian export premiums. India’s jeera exports experienced a decline of 26% year-on-year, totalling 17,177 tonnes in May 2026. Cumulatively, exports during April-May decreased by 22%, amounting to 33,431 tonnes. Despite the overall decline, exports to emerging markets including Singapore, Mexico, Yemen, and Kenya demonstrated robust growth. In the Unjha spot market, jeera prices experienced a decline of 0.35%, settling at Rs 20,755.35.

Technically, jeera is experiencing long liquidation, as evidenced by a 2.20% decline in open interest, which suggests that existing long positions are engaging in profit booking. Immediate support is positioned at Rs 20,960, succeeded by Rs 20,880, whereas resistance is identified at Rs 21,160. A sustained move above this level could extend gains towards Rs 21,280.
