NCDEX Live Updates

Jeera settled 0.58% higher at Rs. 25,200, bolstered by constricted supplies of premium-quality bold seeds, diminished arrivals at key trading centers, and anticipations of reduced production in the forthcoming season. Farmers are retaining stocks in expectation of improved prices during the October sowing season, while diminishing arrivals in Unjha and Rajasthan have heightened concerns regarding nearby supply. However, gains remained constrained by farmer selling to generate cash ahead of the new season, increasing NCDEX warehouse stocks, and prudent industrial purchasing.

Export demand from Europe and North America has shown improvement for residue-compliant, high-quality cumin. However, geopolitical instability in the Middle East persists, impacting logistics and traditional export markets. Indian cumin production is projected to be between 90 and 92 lakh bags, a decrease from last year’s figure of 1.10 crore bags. This year’s output includes an estimated 42 to 45 lakh bags from Gujarat and 48 to 50 lakh bags from Rajasthan. International production prospects exhibit a varied landscape, with China’s output projected at 70,000-80,000 tonnes, influenced by unfavourable weather conditions.

In contrast, Syria, Turkey, and Afghanistan are anticipated to yield 9,000-10,000 tonnes, 10,000-11,000 tonnes, and 10,000-12,000 tonnes, respectively. Meanwhile, India’s jeera exports experienced a decline of 32% year on year, totalling 9,318 tonnes in July 2026. Cumulatively, exports from April to July decreased by 27%, amounting to 53,462 tonnes. While exports to Singapore saw a notable increase, shipments to China plummeted by 88% to 710 tonnes, underscoring a significant weakness in this key market. In Unjha, a prominent spot market, prices concluded at Rs. 24,626, reflecting an increase of 0.97%.

Technically, jeera is experiencing new buying activity, as evidenced by an 8.8% increase in open interest to 8,346 contracts, coupled with a price rise of Rs. 145, suggesting a robust enhancement in market participation. Immediate support is positioned at Rs. 24,700, succeeded by Rs. 24,210, whereas resistance is established at Rs. 25,740 and Rs. 26,290. A sustained move above Rs. 25,740 could extend the recovery toward Rs. 26,290, whereas a break below Rs. 24,700 may expose the next support at Rs. 24,210.
