Turmeric prices concluded the trading session with a decline of 0.65%, settling at Rs 20,086. This decrease can be attributed to profit booking following a recent rally. Enhanced monsoon conditions in Maharashtra, Telangana, and North Karnataka have alleviated worries regarding potential crop damage, yet the overall supply landscape continues to be constrained. Earlier gains were bolstered by inadequate rainfall, a slower-than-anticipated increase in sowing, and apprehensions regarding potential El Nino impacts on the crops presently being cultivated. Carry-forward stocks have experienced a significant decline, with industry estimates indicating inventories at approximately 15 lakh bags, a decrease from over 20 lakh bags in the previous season, thereby diminishing the availability buffer.
Ongoing arid conditions in the early stages of crop development may impact yields, whereas consistent yet prudent purchasing by stockists is assisting in alleviating immediate supply pressures. Re-sowing in North Karnataka has been finalised in the wake of recent rainfall, and the enhancement in crop conditions has alleviated concerns regarding potential crop failures. Reservoir levels in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have shown improvement, thereby securing water availability throughout the vegetative phase. However, the selling activities of farmers during the peak harvest window have intensified market pressure, while anticipations of enhanced production have fostered a more subdued sentiment.
Tighter European Union Maximum Residue Limit regulations have led to the rejection of lots that do not comply with Integrated Pest Management standards, as well as discounts for commercial-grade turmeric. However, the increasing demand for Integrated Pest Management certified turmeric is bolstering the market for compliant stocks. India’s turmeric exports experienced a year-on-year decline of 10%, totalling 13,489 tonnes in July 2026, down from 15,071 tonnes in July 2025. Exports to Turkey rose 431% to 3,007 tonnes, Sri Lanka increased 644% to 156 tonnes, Nigeria surged 983% to 69 tonnes, and Switzerland jumped 3,263% to 27 tonnes.

Turmeric is currently experiencing support at Rs 19,944. A sustained breach below this threshold may lead to a test of Rs 19,804. Conversely, resistance is identified at Rs 20,236, and an upward movement beyond this point could propel prices toward Rs 20,388.
