Turmeric concluded the trading session at Rs 20,892, reflecting a decline of 1.08%. This drop can be attributed to the resurgence of monsoon conditions in Maharashtra, Telangana, and North Karnataka, which alleviated worries regarding arid weather and enhanced expectations for the forthcoming harvest. Reservoir levels in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have shown improvement, which enhances water availability during the vegetative phase. Meanwhile, re-sowing in North Karnataka has been finalised in the wake of recent rainfall. However, the downside remained constrained by structurally tight supplies, diminishing carry-forward stocks, and apprehensions that reduced sowing expansion in critical growing regions could limit forthcoming production.
Industry estimates indicate that carry-forward stocks are approximately 15 lakh bags, a decline from over 20 lakh bags in the previous season, thereby diminishing the supply buffer. Ongoing unfavourable weather conditions during the initial stages of crop development may still impact yields, while apprehensions regarding El Nino persist as a consideration for the recently sown crop. Simultaneously, heightened selling activity among farmers during the peak harvest period has introduced immediate pressure. Tighter European Union Maximum Residue Limit regulations have led to the rejection of lots that do not comply with Integrated Pest Management standards, while the increasing demand for Integrated Pest Management certified turmeric continues to bolster compliant stocks.
India’s turmeric exports experienced a year-on-year increase of 30%, reaching 17,987 tonnes in June 2026, up from 13,787 tonnes. Additionally, exports for the April-June period rose by 8%, totalling 51,987 tonnes. China’s cumulative imports reached 2,108 tonnes, reflecting an increase of 2,710%, while Oman’s imports rose by 469% to 2,342 tonnes. Strong export growth was also recorded in Nigeria, Sri Lanka, and Uruguay, bolstering overall demand.
In Nizamabad, spot prices concluded at Rs 20,157.95, reflecting a decline of 1.25%. Turmeric is currently experiencing fresh selling activity, as indicated by a 0.1% increase in open interest to 36,115, alongside a price decline of Rs 228. Support is positioned at Rs 20,618, and a breach below this level may reveal Rs 20,344. Resistance is observed at Rs 21,252, whereas a sustained movement above this level could drive prices toward Rs 21,612.
