NCDEX Live Updates

Jeera prices concluded with an increase of 1.34% at Rs 21,185, bolstered by a swift reduction in the availability of premium-quality bold seeds, as the supplies of export-grade high-purity seeds are diminishing more rapidly than the overall physical crop availability. Daily arrivals at major markets, including Unjha and Rajasthan, have begun to decrease markedly, while outbreaks of blight disease in critical areas of Gujarat have impacted both the quality of crops and the quantity available for harvest. Production estimates suggest that India’s cumin output could decline to 90–92 lakh bags this season, down from 1.10 crore bags in the previous year. The production in Gujarat is projected to be between 42–45 lakh bags, while Rajasthan’s output is anticipated to range from 48–50 lakh bags.

China’s production is estimated to be lower at 70–80 thousand tonnes due to adverse weather conditions. Meanwhile, Syria, Turkey, and Afghanistan are projected to produce approximately 9–10 thousand tonnes, 10–11 thousand tonnes, and 10–12 thousand tonnes, respectively. However, the upside remained constrained as farmers expedited stock liquidation to generate liquidity for Kharif sowing, while favourable weather conditions facilitated swifter harvesting and drying. Increasing NCDEX warehouse stocks have diminished the urgency for spot procurement, leading large spice grinders to eschew bulk purchases in favour of a more cautious hand-to-mouth buying approach.

Enhanced production outlooks in Turkey and Syria are exerting pressure on Indian export premiums. Geopolitical instability in the Middle East persists in impacting logistics and conventional demand, yet there has been a resurgence of interest from European and North American buyers for residue-compliant and high-specification lots. India’s jeera exports experienced a significant decline of 34% year-on-year, totalling 10,713 tonnes in June 2026. Additionally, exports for the April-June period decreased by 25%, amounting to 44,144 tonnes. Despite the overall decline, cumulative exports to Singapore experienced a remarkable surge of 1,040% to reach 2,198 tonnes, while exports to Oman rose by 265% to 482 tonnes, and those to Argentina increased by 333% to 191 tonnes.

In Unjha, the spot price of jeera decreased by 0.02%, settling at Rs 20,956.05. Technically, the market is experiencing short covering, as evidenced by a 6.72% decline in open interest to 7,953 contracts, while prices have increased by Rs 280, suggesting a recovery bolstered by position unwinding. Jeera exhibits a support level at Rs 20,960, with a potential decline below this threshold possibly testing Rs 20,720. On the upside, resistance is positioned at Rs 21,430, and a sustained movement above this threshold could propel prices toward Rs 21,660.
