NCDEX Live Updates

Jeera prices increased by 1.33% to close at Rs 21,010, bolstered by a reduction in the availability of premium-quality bold seeds. While overall crop availability remains adequate, export-grade, high-purity jeera has become increasingly scarce as daily arrivals in major markets such as Unjha and Rajasthan continue to decline, thereby supporting prices in the physical market. Supply and demand fundamentals exhibit a mixed landscape. Farmers are currently engaged in the liquidation of stocks to raise cash for Kharif sowing. Concurrently, favourable weather conditions have facilitated quicker harvesting and deliveries, thereby augmenting short-term market supplies.

Simultaneously, NCDEX warehouse stocks have been on the rise, diminishing the necessity for immediate spot procurement. Industrial spice processors and stockists are exercising caution, opting for hand-to-mouth purchases rather than engaging in aggressive forward buying. This conservative approach has constrained more significant price increases, even in the context of tighter availability of premium-quality seeds. Export demand also presents a well-rounded perspective. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have led to disruptions in logistics and a decline in purchasing activity from conventional importers, while anticipated Chinese acquisitions have been inconsistent and highly responsive to price fluctuations.

However, there has been a noticeable uptick in interest from buyers in Europe and North America for residue-compliant, high-quality lots. India’s jeera exports experienced an 18% year-on-year decline, totalling 16,254 tonnes in April 2026. This downturn is primarily attributed to a significant reduction in shipments to the UAE. Nevertheless, exports to Morocco, the United States, Mexico, and Brazil exhibited robust growth, partially counterbalancing the diminished demand from conventional markets. Lower domestic production estimates of around 90–92 lakh bags, compared with 1.10 crore bags last year, persist in offering medium-term support.

From a technical perspective, jeera experienced new buying activity, as indicated by a 0.53% increase in open interest alongside rising prices. Immediate support is positioned at Rs 20,810, succeeded by Rs 20,600. Resistance is observed at Rs 21,160, and a sustained breakout above this threshold may lead to further gains towards Rs 21,300, suggesting a favourable near-term technical outlook.
