According to futures trade, the price of coriander dropped by Rs 38 to Rs 12,898 per quintal on Thursday. This was owing to the fact that speculators reduced their holdings in reaction to the moderate demand that was seen in the spot market.
Coriander contracts for delivery in June were settled at Rs 12,898 per quintal over 28,440 lots on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange. This is a loss of Rs 38, which is equivalent to 0.29 percent.
The downward trend in coriander prices in this region was attributed, according to market observers, to the fact that there was not a strong demand for the spice on the spot market.
