Turmeric increased by 0.12% to close at Rs 15,466, bolstered by below-average arrivals and consistent domestic and export demand. Farmers and stockists have already liquidated a considerable share of their inventories, resulting in constrained supplies in anticipation of the new crop. Nevertheless, it is anticipated that gains could be limited, as new arrivals in Erode are projected to increase significantly in the forthcoming two weeks.

On the production front, the 2026 crop is developing with increased acreage, yet output growth remains moderate. The total area is estimated at 3.02 lakh hectares, reflecting an increase of approximately 4% year-on-year, with fresh production anticipated to reach 11.41 lakh tonnes. Dried output is estimated at 90 lakh bags compared to 82.5 lakh bags in the previous season; however, reduced carry-forward stocks constrain the overall supply growth.

Unseasonal precipitation in certain regions of Maharashtra, especially Marathwada, has led to waterlogging and health complications, impacting agricultural yields in approximately 15% of the affected area. Nonetheless, an increase in acreage could elevate Maharashtra’s output to 54 lakh bags. During the period from April to November 2025, exports experienced an increase of nearly 5% compared to the previous year, with November shipments reflecting robust gains both monthly and annually, whereas imports saw a significant decline.

In Nizamabad, prices increased by 0.84%, reaching Rs 15,604. The market exhibits signs of renewed purchasing activity, as evidenced by a 0.99% increase in open interest. Support levels are identified at Rs 15,244 and Rs 15,022, whereas resistance is noted at Rs 15,656; a breakout may drive prices towards Rs 15,846.
