Turmeric experienced an increase of 2.29%, concluding at Rs 15,820, bolstered by constrained arrivals alongside consistent domestic and export demand. Producers and distributors have significantly diminished their inventories, maintaining constrained supplies in anticipation of the forthcoming harvest. Nonetheless, upward momentum may encounter obstacles as new supplies in Erode are anticipated to increase significantly in the forthcoming 10 to 15 days.

For the 2025–26 season, acreage is estimated at 3.02 lakh hectares, reflecting a 4% increase year-on-year, while fresh production is projected to reach 11.41 lakh tonnes. Dried output is estimated at 90 lakh bags, surpassing last season’s figure of 82.5 lakh bags; however, reduced carry-forward stocks are limiting overall availability. Unseasonal rains in certain regions of Maharashtra have impacted approximately 15% of the area, resulting in localized yield losses and raising quality concerns, including issues like rhizome rot.

Maharashtra’s output is projected to increase to 54 lakh bags, driven by expanded acreage. Export performance continues to show positive signs. During the period from April to November 2025, shipments experienced a year-on-year increase of 4.88%, while exports in November demonstrated robust growth both annually and monthly. During the same period, imports experienced a significant decline. Spot prices in Nizamabad increased by 1.36%.

From a technical perspective, the market is experiencing short covering, as evidenced by a 1.18% decline in open interest. Support levels are identified at Rs 15,608 and Rs 15,398, whereas resistance is noted at Rs 15,962; a breakout may drive prices towards Rs 16,106.
