Turmeric prices experienced a decrease of 1.55%, closing at Rs 17,780, primarily driven by profit booking in light of anticipated increases in acreage attributed to favorable rainfall during the ongoing sowing season. Market sentiment has adopted a cautious stance as preliminary estimates indicate a significant increase in turmeric acreage for the 2026 harvest. However, supply growth is anticipated to remain moderate due to weather irregularities and localized disease pressures. Unseasonal rains during August–September resulted in waterlogging and disease challenges in regions of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, adversely affecting yields even with an increase in the area planted.

Nonetheless, the downside appears constrained as arrivals persistently fall short of normal levels, with both farmers and stockists having significantly curtailed their inventories, thereby establishing a robust foundation in anticipation of new crop arrivals. For the 2025–26 season, turmeric acreage is estimated at 3.02 lakh hectares, reflecting an increase of approximately 4% year-on-year, with fresh production anticipated to reach 11.41 lakh tonnes. The output of dried turmeric is projected to reach 90 lakh bags, an increase compared to the previous season; however, the limited carry-forward stocks constrain the total availability.

Export fundamentals continue to exhibit strength, as shipments from April to October 2025 increased by 2.05% compared to the previous year, while imports experienced a significant decline, thereby constraining domestic supply. Quality-compliant IPM produce is anticipated to bolster export-grade demand, especially in Europe and the U.S. From a technical perspective,

The market is experiencing renewed selling pressure, as evidenced by a 0.18% increase in open interest coupled with a Rs 280 decrease in price. Turmeric exhibits a support level at Rs 17,532, with potential further decline toward Rs 17,286 if this level is breached. On the upside, resistance is identified at Rs 18,156, and a breakthrough could challenge Rs 18,534.
