Jeera concluded the day with a 0.77% increase, reaching Rs 21,520, bolstered by adverse weather conditions, postponed sowing activities, and consistently low supply levels in major markets. Inconsistent precipitation has hindered field preparation efforts, particularly in Gujarat, resulting in one of the most sluggish sowing seasons observed in recent years. Arrivals at Unjha are limited, and high-quality cumin continues to attract elevated prices. While there has been a slight improvement in export demand from Gulf nations and China, it continues to exhibit significant price sensitivity, thereby constraining substantial upside potential.

Logistical challenges in India and the Middle East continue to constrain supply, while the conclusion of the retail season and subdued foreign purchasing have limited upward movement. Farmers are said to possess approximately 20 lakh bags; however, the anticipated trade for this season is only between 3 and 4 lakh bags. This situation results in a significant carry-forward stock of about 16 lakh bags. Production for the current season is projected to be between 90 and 92 lakh bags, a decline from last year’s figure of 1.10 crore bags. Gujarat is anticipated to contribute 42 to 45 lakh bags, while Rajasthan is expected to produce 48 to 50 lakh bags. Global production presents a varied landscape:

China’s output has been adjusted to a range of 70–80 thousand tonnes, whereas Syria, Turkey, and Afghanistan are projected to yield between 9–12 thousand tonnes each. During the period from April to September 2025, jeera exports experienced a decline of 14.51%, totaling 101,898.64 tonnes. However, shipments in September showed improvements on both a year-over-year and month-over-month basis.

The market experienced a phenomenon of short covering, as open interest declined by 3.68% to 3,063, accompanied by a price increase of Rs 165. Jeera is currently finding support at Rs 21,240, and a breach of this level may lead to a decline in prices to Rs 20,970. Resistance stands at Rs 21,760, beyond which the levels of Rs 22,010 could be examined.
